Youth Forum Nepal’s mission is to work with all youth regardless of creed; cast, culture and societal background, to collectively strive for a society that is self-aware, violence free and well-disciplined advocating, sensitizing and awaring youth on various issues.

Youths have potentials and ideas but they lack orientation and we are here to provide them with appropriate materials and tools. YFN works to strengthen bonds between young people and their community.

The announcement is to fill the team of popular TV Show Youth Forum, which will shortly be going on air through a reputed private television channel.

Post: Program Coordinator 2 nos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • arrange participants from various colleges
  • co-ordinate with the participants to impart the basic guidelines of youth discussion topics
  • Carry the duties of co-ordination, show management, public relation with the participants and reporting to the producer.
  • work with the show host and producer, and execute the duties assigned by them
  • work with the youth social mobilizers, students, leaders and other social actors to facilitate their maximum participation
  • prepare drafts, reports of the topics and shooting report of the show
  • co-ordinate the activities of the participants and guests
  • perform other duties as necessary
  • Qualifications:

    • Youth between the age of 20 and 29
    • Bachelor Level (those who appear the last year in bachelor level may also apply)
    • Proficient in computer application with the knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, E-mail & Internet
    • Good oral and written communication skills in English & Nepali
    • Good command of report writing, e-mails, searching the issues of youth discussion series from internet.
    • Willingness to frequent visits in academic institutions, youth clubs etc
    • Competencies:

      • Excellent personal motivation with a proven ability to build and work collaboratively in a strong team concept environment, and independently.
      • Focused, versatile, dependable, multi-task oriented, flexible, positive, emotionally stable, able to adapt effectively to challenging and emergency situations.
      • Ability to create discussion topics with the deep insights into the co-ordination, meetings and intermingle with youth.
      • Strong interpersonal skills resulting in exceptional rapport with youth. Able to deal courteously, professionally, and tactfully with the students in a variety of circumstances.
      • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze situations accurately and effectively.

        SNV Nepal invites Nepali citizen from marginalized and socially excluded groups to apply for an internship programme.         This position will be based in Hetauda with frequent travels to eight districts of Central Terai.         Title: Intern – Himalayan University Consortium

        Unit: Human and Institutional Development

        Division: Integrated Knowledge Management and Capacity Development

        Background

        The Human and Institutional Development (HID) Unit at ICIMOD facilitates systematic development of human and institutional capacity both within ICIMOD and among its regional member country (RMC) partners. One of the responsibilities of the HID Unit is to develop further the newly launched Himalayan University Consortium (HUC), which will have both thematic activities, in terms of curriculum development bringing in mountain-specific elements in university teaching, and training activities for faculty and development
        practitioners, especially in Afghanistan.

        Under the HUC umbrella, a programme entitled “Building Afghan Research Capability” has been developed jointly by ICIMOD and key HUC partners and funded by IDRC, Canada to facilitate training and capacity building of the faculty members and staff of the Afghan universities, in particular aiming to help Kabul University to regain its position as leading University in the Western Himalayas and in the development of Afghanistan. The HID Unit at ICIMOD also serves as the Programme Implementation Unit for the stated programme.

        In order to support various activities of the HUC in general and the Afghan capacity building programme in particular, ICIMOD intends to recruit an Intern in the HID Unit to be based in ICIMOD headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal. Under the supervision of the Head and/or Regional Capacity Development Officer of the HID Unit and in close collaboration with other staff and consultants in the Unit, the Intern will provide administrative, secretarial and logistic support to the Himalayan University Consortium and its programmes.


        Tasks and services

        Specifically, the Intern will undertake the following tasks:

        Task 1: Serve as the Secretary for the Human and Institutional Development Unit

        The intern will ensure smooth operation and documentation of the HID Secretariat supporting the Head, HID Unit; the Capacity Development Officer (Regional) and other short-term staff and consultants to be engaged from time to time.

        Task 2: Serve as a contact point at the Programme Implementation Unit

        The intern will ensure live communication with (i) Programme Liaison Office at Kabul University, Afghanistan; (ii) ICIMOD Afghanistan Country Office; and (iii) Programme Steering Committee (PSC) Members (TISS, India; GUCAS, China; NWFPAU, Pakistan; KU, Afghanistan; ICIMOD,Nepal; and IDRC/SARO, India).

        Task 3: Provide administrative, logistic and secretarial support for capacity building interventions

        The intern will ensure planning details, administrative and logistic matters for and secretarial support during PSC meeting, annual HUC meeting, and training courses within and outside ICIMOD.

        Task 4: Maintain web page on Himalayan University Consortium

        The intern will ensure web posting of current materials related to the HUC activities, ongoing partnership and plans. The intern will prepare, compile and update relevant materials from different sources including web search on courses run by HUC members.

        Task 5: Attend to any other tasks related to the HUC and the HID Unit as entrusted by the Supervisor

        The internship will provide the candidate with a chance to learn about ICIMOD’s programmes in sustainable mountain development in the Hindu-Kush Himalayas. Additionally, s/he will have the opportunity to develop skills in communication and organising capacity building initiatives in general and in arranging meeting, workshop, and
        training in particular.

        The specific learning objectives for the intern will be set at the beginning of the internship, which will be reviewed monthly and assessment reports prepared on quarterly basis.

        Desired qualifications

        §  Graduate academic background or equivalent in social or natural sciences

        §  1-2 years of work experience preferably in organising meeting and workshop

        §  Excellent research and writing skills and attention to detail

        §  Computer/internet literacy: word processing, spreadsheets, and database management and email, internet search

        §  Language skills: demonstrated ability to speak and write professionally, fluently and grammatically in English; knowledge of other regional languages desirable

        Duration: Six to twelve months starting from May 2007

        Remuneration: A monthly stipend of NRs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) only will be provided to the intern. For the intern with home base outside Kathmandu/Nepal, an additional monthly allowance of up to NRs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) only will be provided to cover lodging and incidental costs.

        SFCG is seeking highly motivated, committed and dynamic candidate for Project Manager.

        Summary of Position

        The Project Manager will be responsible for implementing SFCG’s democracy and constitution-building project in Nepal with the long-term goal to structurally transform the way that youth participate in the civic and political arena so that they play a substantial and positive role in supporting the peace and democratization process in Nepal. Specifically, the Project Manager will be responsible for working with partner organizations to design, manage, and monitor the project. The position will be based in Kathmandu and will include frequent travel to the field.
