SNV Netherlands Development Organisation has been working in Nepal since 1980. SNV Nepal invites Nepali citizen from marginalized and socially excluded groups to apply for an internship programme. It aims to provide young member (preferably women??) of socially excluded groups with practical working experience in professional environment and to promote diversity of workforce and inclusion within SNV Nepal. We expect that the intern becomes competitive in the job market through exposure to activities by SNV Nepal. The duration of internship will be from 1 June to 31 December 2008.

This position will be based in Hetauda with frequent travels to eight districts of Central Terai. The intern shall work with Central Terai Portfolio team under the line management of the Portfolio Coordinator. The intern will be provided with monthly remuneration. Travel allowance will be paid same as to SNV staff during field visits. The intern will be covered by the insurance policy of SNV Nepal.

Major responsibilities

The intern is expected to undertake the following tasks:

· Support in capacity development process of clients in Water, Sanitation and Health and Renewable energy

· Support in capacity development process of clients

· Support in collection, entry, processing and analysis of quantitative data on workforce diversity of clients

· Support in Research and Development (R&D) activities carried out by clients

· Support in knowledge development through collecting qualitative data for case studies and writing reports

Required conditions and competencies

· Bachelor degree in any discipline

· Knowledge of computer application including use of Microsoft packages

· Good oral and written communication skill in Nepali and English

· Available on full-time basis for seven months period from 1^st June 2008

· Willingness, attitude of learning and strong motive in working with multi-cultural team

· Willingness for frequent field visit to remote areas
