<p>The Human and Institutional Development (HID) Unit at ICIMOD facilitates systematic development of human and institutional capacity both within ICIMOD and among its regional member country (RMC) partners. One of the responsibilities of the HID Unit is to develop further the newly launched Himalayan University Consortium (HUC), which will have both thematic activities, in terms of curriculum development bringing in mountain-specific elements in university teaching, and training activities for faculty and development<br />
practitioners, especially in Afghanistan.</p>
<p>Under the HUC umbrella, a programme entitled “Building Afghan Research Capability” has been developed jointly by ICIMOD and key HUC partners and funded by IDRC, Canada to facilitate training and capacity building of the faculty members and staff of the Afghan universities, in particular aiming to help Kabul University to regain its position as leading University in the Western Himalayas and in the development of Afghanistan. The HID Unit at ICIMOD also serves as the Programme Implementation Unit for the stated programme.</p>
<p>In order to support various activities of the HUC in general and the Afghan capacity building programme in particular, ICIMOD intends to recruit an Intern in the HID Unit to be based in ICIMOD headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal. Under the supervision of the Head and/or Regional Capacity Development Officer of the HID Unit and in close collaboration with other staff and consultants in the Unit, the Intern will provide administrative, secretarial and logistic support to the Himalayan University Consortium and its programmes.</p>

<p><strong>Task 2: Serve as a contact point at the Programme Implementation Unit</strong></p>
<p>The intern will ensure live communication with (i) Programme Liaison Office at Kabul University, Afghanistan; (ii) ICIMOD Afghanistan Country Office; and (iii) Programme Steering Committee (PSC) Members (TISS, India; GUCAS, China; NWFPAU, Pakistan; KU, Afghanistan; ICIMOD,Nepal; and IDRC/SARO, India).</p>
<p><strong>Task 3: Provide administrative, logistic and secretarial support for capacity building interventions</strong></p>
<p>The intern will ensure planning details, administrative and logistic matters for and secretarial support during PSC meeting, annual HUC meeting, and training courses within and outside ICIMOD.</p>
<p><strong>Task 4: Maintain web page on Himalayan University Consortium</strong></p>
<p>The intern will ensure web posting of current materials related to the HUC activities, ongoing partnership and plans. The intern will prepare, compile and update relevant materials from different sources including web search on courses run by HUC members.</p>
<p><strong>Task 5: Attend to any other tasks related to the HUC and the HID Unit as entrusted by the Supervisor</strong></p>
<p>The internship will provide the candidate with a chance to learn about ICIMOD’s programmes in sustainable mountain development in the Hindu-Kush Himalayas. Additionally, s/he will have the opportunity to develop skills in communication and organising capacity building initiatives in general and in arranging meeting, workshop, and<br />
training in particular.</p>
<p>The specific learning objectives for the intern will be set at the beginning of the internship, which will be reviewed monthly and assessment reports prepared on quarterly basis.</p>
<p><strong>Desired qualifications</strong></p>
<p>§  Graduate academic background or equivalent in social or natural sciences</p>
<p>§  1-2 years of work experience preferably in organising meeting and workshop</p>
<p>§  Excellent research and writing skills and attention to detail</p>
<p>§  Computer/internet literacy: word processing, spreadsheets, and database management and email, internet search</p>
<p>§  Language skills: demonstrated ability to speak and write professionally, fluently and grammatically in English; knowledge of other regional languages desirable</p>
<p><strong><span style="color:#003399;">Duration: Six to twelve months starting from May 2007</span></strong></p>
<p>Remuneration: A monthly stipend of NRs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) only will be provided to the intern. For the intern with home base outside Kathmandu/Nepal, an additional monthly allowance of up to NRs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) only will be provided to cover lodging and incidental costs.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;">SNV Nepal invites Nepali youths from marginalized and disadvantaged groups to apply for an internship programme. It aims to provide young members of socially excluded groups with practical working experience in professional environment and to promote diversity of workforce and inclusion within SNV Nepal. We expect that the intern becomes competitive in the job market through exposure to activities by SNV Nepal. The intern shall work with East Portfolio Renewable Energy advisor in (RE) team under the line management by Portfolio Coordinator. The intern will be provided with nominal monthly remuneration. Travel allowance will be paid as same as SNV staff during field visit. The intern will be covered by insurance policy of SNV Nepal</span></p>

It aims to provide young members of  socially excluded groups with practical working experience in professional  environment and to promote diversity of workforce and inclusion within  SNV Nepal. We expect that the intern  becomes competitive in the job market through exposure to activities by  SNV Nepal. <p><span style="font-family:Arial;">National Alliance for Human Rights and Social Justice- Nepal (Human Rights Alliance) is a coalition of Nepali non governmental human rights organizations dedicated to a cause of freedom, human rights, social justice and peace in Nepal. Human Rights Alliance undertakes human rights and social justice movements and has actively involved in advocacy, lobbying and campaign for the protection and promotion of HR. Currently, we are going to recruit an Executive Director to be based in Kathmandu. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The incumbent should have a proven track record and sound knowledge on different human rights issues with excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills for advocacy, lobbying and campaign, preferably hold a Masters Degree in Human Rights, Social Sciences or any other relevant disciplines. You should have at least three years work experience in similar fields, managing programmes, human and financial resources. A high level of competency in communication, reporting, projects financial management and facilitation skills is required. The candidate should be well versed on MS Word, Excel and Power Point. Good knowledge of both written and spoken English and Nepali is essential. You need to have the ability to learn and work independently with minimal supervision. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The post is initially for one year contract with possibility of extension over several years. Salary and other benefits will commensurate with experience and competency as per the rules of the organisation. </span></p>
